Our ProvidersMark W. McClure, MD, FACS | Daniel I. McRackan, MD | Cheryl McClure Elliott, RN, MSN, ANP
After graduating from Indiana University School of Medicine, Dr. McClure received his urology training at the University Of Pennsylvania. Since starting practice in 1981, he has appeared on radio and television, written articles and textbook chapters, and lectured extensively on various aspects of complementary medicine. Since 1996, he has served as medical editor for Health & Healing, a Research Triangle-based health newspaper. In 1997, Dr. McClure founded Landmark Urology and Complementary Medicine – one of the first urology practices in the United States to offer both conventional and complementary medicine. He is the author of Smart Medicine for a Healthy Prostate (NY: Avery Publishing Group, 2001) - a comprehensive evidence-based overview of conventional and complementary therapies for BPH, prostatitis, and prostate cancer. Dr. McClure is board certified in both urology and holistic medicine. He and his partner, Cheri McClure Elliott, practice state-of-the-art urology and complementary medicine in Raleigh, NC. Dr. Daniel McRackan joined Landmark Urology and Complementary Medicine in the summer of 2009. He completed his residency and internship in Urology, in the Department of Surgery, at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Dr. McRackan earned his Doctor of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. He is a current member of Alpha Omega Alpha, and throughout his academic career was awarded various research and scholarship awards. His most recent research includes a Randomized controlled trial comparing Robotic-Assisted Laparoscopic Radical Cystectomy to Open Radical Cystectomy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Department of Surgery, Division of Urology. Dr. McRackan has also been involved in a study investigating characteristics and outcomes of incidental renal masses as well as a study investigating the role of Prostascint Scanning in the diagnosis of recurrent prostate cancer. Cheryl McClure Elliott joined Dr. McClure in January of 1997 as co-founder of Landmark Urology and Complementary Medicine. Before joining the practice her experience was in the Surgery/Trauma Intensive Care Unit and the Emergency Departments of Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland Ohio where she was also a flight nurse with Metro Life Flight. After moving to North Carolina she was a volunteer paramedic and training officer for the South Orange Rescue Squad in Chapel Hill while working with the Department of Surgery at UNC Hospitals. Cheri is a member of the American Holistic Nurses Association. Her credentials include national certification in massage and bodywork and the Dr. Vodder technique of manual lymph drainage (MLD), a specific therapy for after cancer treatment of the lymphatic system. Dr. McClure and Cheri share an interest in combining complementary interventions with traditional care. Cheri is also a member of SUNA- the Society of Urology Nurses and Associates, and the American Holistic Medical Association. After 22 years in nursing Cheri enrolled in the Master of Science graduate program at UNC Chapel Hill and became an Adult Nurse Practitioner in May of 2004. A Nurse practitioner (NP) may assess, diagnose treat and prescribe therapies for patients with common medical problems. Cheri also has operating room privileges at all four Wake County Hospitals to assist Dr. McClure in surgery.
